What does your name, Staidhre, mean?

Staidhre means "stairway" in the  Scottish Gaelic language. Tom is a native of Scotland and while not a native Gaelic speaker has chosen this as an appropriate phrase to describe the coaching process that he utilizes.

Is coaching the same as therapy or counselling?

Accepted Answer

No, definitely not. Coaching is focused upon the setting up and monitoring of future goals. Therapy or counselling typically relate to reconciling past events and dealing with them. We do not offer support for any types of mental health problems, we would refer you to another appropriate provider.

What is the difference between coaching and consulting?

Accepted Answer

Coaching is about helping you to help yourself. It explores your vision for yourself and the goals that are necessary to get there. We help build a roadmap of actions that you take to help yourself, with the coach's support. Along with this we provide the appropriate toolset/skills to succeed during your coaching engagement and beyond. We do not tell you what your goals are nor do we do the doing towards their completion
. 
Consulting, on the other hand, is about giving you answers to problems that you can then execute upon.

Are you looking for direction in your career or personal life and not sure where to start?
You know where you want to get to but don't know how?
You know your goals and how to get there but would like someone to support you and hold you accountable?

Which aspects of Life Coaching do you offer?

Life Coaching is a very broad spectrum. We focus upon coaching in the fields of career, education, leadership, product management, entrepreneurship and wellness. 
Wellness may seem like an odd category alongside the other work life related topics. It is included because wellness is critical to your success in all walks of life, including the other categories listed here.

Are sessions done in person or remotely?

Almost all personal coaching sessions are done via online meetings.

Coaching for product management is frequently done on the client site to support multiple participants and aid interaction.

Do you offer a free trial period?

We offer an introductory 30 minute session free of charge. All other sessions must be paid for at the listed fee rate.

How can I book a free introductory session?

You can book online via our Services page. Click on "Book Now" for the "Discovery session" service. This will allow you to automatically book an appointment at a time that suits you.

How often will the sessions be?

Accepted Answer

This can depend upon your objectives and goals. It may be 2 or 3 sessions to get over an immediate problem but most clients spend 2 to 3 months with us. During the early stages the frequency of sessions is likely to be higher, with meetings weekly or, as a minimum, bi-weekly. In the later stages it is frequently 1 meeting per month with short check-ins via email or text.

Is there an age limit for who can benefit from coaching?

No. We have worked with clients from age 18 to well into retirement.
